HAPPY EASTER FROM THE VEGAS DESERT...

Spring is upon us here in the dry, sandy desert landscape - she doesn't produce much in the way of the lasting blooms that most people are used to (not to mention ours are usually nestled amongst sharp spines - our bunnies have longer ears and feet, too), but when the season begins, Mother Nature provides a pretty vivid one. One of the best places in town for the bright cacti blooms is Ethel M's Cactus Garden...it's the best place in town for Easter Candy, as well.  Jack (this was a young one) knows it - I know it.
A quick stop the other day - a little early for the full effect, but a few early bloomers made the trip worthwhile.  Once the cactus start blooming, it's over in a flash...for an entire year.
Dangerous beauties!  The cactus in the upper left has the most beautiful pale blooms, and the most deadly looking spines.
From my house to yours, Happy Easter - Happy Spring!  XOXO...Tanya

  1. Happy Easter and Spring to you too Tanya!
Oh, I love cacti and their gorgeous flowers! My Mum used to grow so many kinds of them, but then read somewhere that they are not so good for indoors and removed many. I remember we used to wait for them to bloom, and when they did, the aroma was incredible, besides beautiful big flowers!
Thanks for sharing peculiar photos! have a lovely Sunday! Hugs!

  8. Happy Easter to you and yours,Tanya!
    Lovely photos
Rabbits in your area are weird looking in a lanky way.
I'm reminded of the first time a cactus I had bloomed. I kept vacuuming up little brown things near the window. Then I remembered that's where the cactus is (behind closed blinds). I didn't know they could make so many flowers.

  14. Amazing how cactus bloom and so beautiful. We actually have one of those with the bright yellow blooms that we see on our walk. It just started blooming recently -- I wondered what was taking it so long. :) Hope all is well with you. Best wishes, Tammy
